What kind of retaining wall is best?+

Do retaining walls need drainage behind them?+
Yes — proper drainage is what separates a retaining wall that lasts from one that bulges and fails. We integrate gravel backfill, drainage stone, weep holes, or French drains behind every wall we build, based on wall height and soil conditions. Skipping drainage is the top reason DIY walls fail.
How tall can a retaining wall be?+
Segmental block walls up to about 4 ft usually don't require engineering; taller walls typically need engineered plans, geogrid reinforcement, or a switch to concrete. We build within manufacturer specs on shorter walls and coordinate with engineers on tall walls where structural design is required.
