House pad and building pad costs depend on how much cut-and-fill is needed, how much fill dirt has to be brought in, compaction requirements, and the size of the pad. They're the same idea—a compacted, level, engineered surface designed to support a structure and shed water. 'House pad' usually refers to residential builds; 'building pad' or 'pad site' is used more broadly for barns, shops, commercial buildings, and metal buildings.
